Our previous existence - "Dirty Trix" |

"Dirty Trix" at the annual bikers Rally held at Preston Patrick Memorial Hall. From left to right: Willy Watson, Vaughn Phelps, Andy Hill, Howie Milby, Peter Hill. This line-up was formed in March 1985. It lasted for approximately 12 Months. Andy then left us and was replaced soon after by Ann Humphries (vocals) and Russell Turner (Bass). The band split late in 1986 as Peter got his Mrs "up the duff" which spooked Howie into leaving, and Peter to act as a responsible parent to be! Although Peter did join Ulverston based Folk Rock band "Drumlin" for about 12 months before this responsibility hit home! Willy and Peter started playing together again in 1990 when they regularly attended the "Jam" nights at the Kendal Brewery. "These sessions leave us with some extremely fine memories. One in particular was a monumental piss-up with a now sadly departed friend - Bodger". |

|
During this time, Andrew Wilson (Colne) was gigging with his Colne based band "Desire", visiting Coniston on many occasions, and forming a friendship with the Coniston based boys. |

Two shots of Andrew Wilson (Colne) in a previous incarnation. Careful experienced observers will note that the state of the chaps on the second picture, plus the condition of the Ale confirms two things:
Beware of the chap in the centre. He's been seen wandering around aimlessly in The High Cross! |

The Jam nights rekindled Peter & Willy's enthusiasm so gigging was not long in coming. In 1991, Willy joined the Coniston band "Souled Out" with Antony Hext, Johnny Hext, Will Miller, and Kenny Hopper. This excellent band lasted until about 1994. At about the same time, Peter & "Gismo" (met him at the Jam nights) formed an Appleby based Rhythm and Blues band (can't remember its name). They only played 7 gigs but they all involved large amounts of alcohol, and a refreshing raw sound. Peter met Allan Armstrong during rehearsals and thus played in numerous Penrith based bands including Fourplay with Paul Osbourne. This lasted until about 1994 when things fizzled out, most probably because Peter's "Rock" sound was a little too much for the "Penrith British Legion". Great laughs though! |

Cue Andy Hill again! After a chance meeting between Andy Hill & Peter Hill, The Rhythm Methodists were formed in March 1996. The Line-up being: Willy Watson, Anthony Polfreman (bass), Andy Hill, Andrew Wilson (Kendal), Peter Hill, and last but not least: Wad Illingworth (sound engineer). About August 1998 we changed our name to "The Dangerous Brothers". |

Below we are playing at The Station Hotel, Millom with a guest Bass Player, Johnny Hext. This is probaby during the transition period after Anthony left us late 1998. It's probaby early 1999. Johnny wanted to join, but he wasn't allowed out on a Saturday nights! After advertising, Steve (Mad Dog) Edgar came on the scene. |

This line-up lasted for about 2 years when Andrew Wilson (Kendal) left the band. This of course horrified us as we'd just got the CD Covers printed. Thus, to avoid the vast reprinting expenditure, we replaced the drummer with our old mate Andrew Wilson (Colne). Fortunately, also, he's an excellent drummer to boot! Of course he doesn't always remember to bring his gear, hence the March 2003 Yellow Card! Andy Hill left the band after (prearranged amicable split) our Boxing Day 2001 gig at Milnthorpe Institute. As a consequence of the return of Andrew Wilson (Kendal)'s PA (only fair that we should give it back to him - after all, it was his!), Wad's involvement sadly ended after Cameron's "pilot" gig early in 2002. Below are some photos of Cameron's previous venture, the popular Windermere group "The Racing Snakes".
Cameron Wade joined us in March 2002, and brought an injection of new ideas, whilst still operating within the framework of us being an outfit who like to play classic rock, and have a good time doing it. The PA has been modified, as has the set list, but if your favourite isn't on there - well, buy Peter a beer (or three) and he'll have a go at anything! The band suffered a blow in May 2003, when Mad Dog became seriously ill. With his blessing, however, we fulfilled our outstanding gigs with two stand in bass players. Our sincere thanks go out to Messrs Jonny Hext and Richard Wilson, who allowed us to keep performing during Mad Dog's enforced absence. Thanks are also due to Chris Edgar, who has supplied our PA during this time. Willy left the band on 1st August 2003. Whilst we were sorry to see him go, the truth be known, it hasn't been the same for him since Andy Hill and Andy Wilson (Kendal) left. As a consequence of Mad Dog's spell of ill health, on August 2nd, Peter, Andrew (Colne.........pay attention at the back!) and Cam had no hesitation in offering the post to a very talented up and coming guitarist - Lee Illingworth. He accepted without hesitation. He has been known to the band for most of its history, and it's great to have the Illingworths back. We are all excited about the new recruitment which will bring with it more material and new ideas. Probably more amps and speakers as well! Mad Dog has returned to good health, and has resumed gigging. Back to full strength, the musical style and feel of the band are largely the same as 1998, so "the name remains the same". 26 September 2003 - Peter has acquired a second "pristine" 4 x 12 Speaker Cabinet. God help us!! 3 March 2004 - Lee has kept to his word and has built up a fair Marshall Stack, with up to 6 speaker on the go! Naturally, Peter could not let this go unanswered and has adapted his rig to push out a modest 150Watts through a mere 9 12inch speakers! 2 July 2007, Peter sells his Twin Neck to a chap from new York in exchange for a GM2T & a wedge of cash. ______________________________________________________________ After a disastrous gig at Bootleggers, on 29 June 2007 Cameron quit the band.
On 8 July 2007 (a member of the band was away in-between), the remainder of the band accepted his resignation According to this site, Cameron played 141 gigs in his stay with the band, and was with us for 5.25 Years. He worked very hard, both on stage and behind the scenes getting us more venues in a dwindling market. Obviously, the remainder of the band wishes him all the success in the future. He should have no trouble obtaining work elsewhere, as bands are always short of singers. ________________________________________________________________ (Most of these memories courtesy of Willy Watson as Peter Hill has become a bewildered old tw@t apparently!) |
